IXmlSerializable interface fully available in .NET 2.0

The .NET 1.1 framework internally uses the IXmlSerializable interface for custom XML serialisation of certain classes. In fact the only class that I can come up with is the DataSet class (and all classes derived from the DataSet class). The following description is issued by the MSDN documentation: This type supports the .NET Framework infrastructure and is not intended to be used directly from your code. You can use it, but there are some problems with it. Apparently, when a class implements the IXmlSerializable interface, the XmlRootAttribute attribute cannot be applied to that class. I just discovered that in .NET 2.0 this class is fully functional and can be used in conjunction with the XmlRootAttribute interface. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/library/fhd7bk0a(en-us,vs.80).aspx Isn't life great with the upcoming .NET Framework 2.0!

New book from Charles Petzold!!

It's finally there, the new book from Charles Petzold named Programming Microsoft Windows Forms. It's released on 30/11/2005 and covers all Windows Forms stuff in .NET 2.0. http://www.charlespetzold.com/winforms/ It can be pre-ordered from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735621535/103-6309100-0853448 I already placed an order because I like his books very much. There's only one minor issue I experience with books from Charles Petzold: he doesn't write enough of them. I'm also looking forward too his book on Windows Presentation Foundation (Avalon): http://www.charlespetzold.com/faq.html Happy reading
